Coachella Lineup Announced...2,245 Dead... Mom Arrested

So I ended my last post just a couple daze ago with the words "Is This A Great Country Or What ?"

and y'know... this rhetorical quandry was further confirmed when I read about Cindy Sheehan being pounced on in the House of Representatives last night within a minute of removing her jacket. The Mom was rushed outta the nosebleed seats like a ticking timebomb by a cop shouting "PROTESTER!" before The Coward In Chief's "State of The Union Address".

Yes, it is a apparently a crime to wear a t-shirt saying "2,245 Dead...How Many More?" in what Rep. Lynn Woolsey called the "People's House"...

Then we all take a surreal hit of baby Bush, the greasy back slapping scion of a Nazi/Saudi linked oil dynasty who would then lecture America about being "Addicted To Oil"...

Said Sheehan herself in a sad statement following her arrest...

After I had my personal items inventoried and my fingers printed, a nice Sgt. came in and looked at my shirt and said, "2245, huh? I just got back from there."I told him that my son died there. That's when the enormity of my loss hit me. I have lost my son. I have lost my First Amendment rights. I have lost the country that I love.

Where did America go? I started crying in pain. What did Casey die for? What did the 2244 other brave young Americans die for? What are tens of thousands of them over there in harm's way for still? For this? I can't even wear a shirt that has the number of troops on it that George Bush and his arrogant and ignorant policies are responsible for killing.

It's a well known fact that Bush and his faithful gestapo fear the free expression of anyone that might disagree with them.

The Coward In Chief who somehow managed to get Rep. Murtha and Sen. Kerry's war records questioned when he went AWOL is not going to take any potential shit from some Mom on the loose. CBS 4 in Denver has some details from a recent exclusion of some folks from a Bush appearance where a man impersonating a secret service agent forced three people out of a speech for having a "No Blood For Oil" bumper sticker on their car.

y' know it's just darn Sickening !

The Loved Ones - Sickening

Swiss banking officials have finally agreed to begin looking into former Chilean dictator Augustin Pinochet's reputed 27 Million worth of secret accounts. The former dictator has yet to explain how he managed to get hold of many millions of dollars when his annual salary as Army officer never exceeded $15,000 US dollars. It's assumed that the tax dodging general used his position as a middle man in arms deals and reaped the benefits off the tops of government contracts via kickbacks. Authorities have found secret accounts belonging to Pinochet and people close to him in Spain, Argentina, Switzerland, the United States, Chile, Britain, the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands. Pinochet's wife and daughter also face tax evasion charges, his daughter was indignant upon returning to Chile from the US after a failed bid for political asylum. Lucia Pinochet claims she was badly treated by US Immigration officials, who handcuffed her and made her wear prisoner garb before she withdrew her application for asylum in the US that was challenged by Chilean officials.

Now for some music...

Capsoul: An idea who’s time has come

here's some long out of print early 70's stuff from Columbus Ohio's obscure Capsoul label, recently made available again through a distro arrangement via the Numero Group. Bill Moss is/was the mysterious blue collar Berry Gordy behind the label who brought these gems to light originally on 45s, and now it's like time travelling to get a chance to hear these old school groovy grooves again...

Bill's struggling lil' label went belly up in 1974, and these tracks are remastered off of original 45's scored on E-Bay, because the master tapes were long ago destroyed in a flood. Bill claimed he was blessed with common sense, and went on to serve on the Columbus School board for decades until 2003, and he finally died at age 69 last August, getting to see his records rediscovered and reissued shortly before his passing.

Bill Moss - Number One (My Daddy Said, You Oughta Be A Man)

Marion Black -
Who Knows

Ronnie Taylor - Without Love

To hear a little bit more about this reissue project, and from label founder Bill Moss... head over to NPR over visit the Numero Group website...

Another Numero Group reissue/rediscovery is Miami's long lost Deep City label, a repository of long forgotten funk & soul from the late 60's. During the Deep City era of 1964, the label laid down a funky foundation in the hot South Florida heat, launching the careers of Betty Wright, and Clarence "Blowfly" Reid amongst others. Producer Willie Clarke ran Deep City with Johnny Pearsall, who would go on to work for TK Records... Perhaps they should be canonized as the real Miami Sound Machine, doing it to death when the producers of the bass heavy Estefan era were still on training wheels, these guys helped build disco from scratch.

Them Two - Am I A Good Man

Helene Smith - Thrills & Chills

so are ya one of them Coachella lineup fans? me, I don't like discos, nor discos that force attendees into being herded into line for $5 bottles of water while standing around in the desert...not so dark, not so much... but hey if'n it's all the same, here's some sample music from some of the folks expected to make the scene in Indio CA this April...

Oh, clearly you are stupid...and foolish. What in the world is your thinking like...or can you even critically think? First, Ms Sheehan is just exploiting her son's death and has no intention of trying to change any policy. She's just addicted to media coverage. That's all. Second, despite what you may wish, there are STANDARDS in this world. Just because one wants to wear something to someplace doesn't mean they can. Why not turn the Congress into "Let's Make a Deal" and have anyone entering the forum wear costumes of any kind? Seriously, you must be joking that you think this is a first amendment issue. Had she just stuck to the dress code she would have been allowed in and maybe, just maybe, her presence alone would have been enough to make an impression. But NO! She had to make a fool of herself, her cause, and dishonor her son.

Loving the music, by the way. Keep up the good work, man.

Also: Dave D. has his facts wrong -- in this case, the rules (or as D says the STANDARDS) are that folks can wear shirts, but they cannot act out in ways that call attention to them. Like her or hate her, Ms. Sheehan did not break the dress code, and did not do anything wrong by the official rules of the space she was in, and has since been offered an apology...as has the senator's wife who wore a t-shirt that said "support the troops," and who was also ejected illegally and improperly.

Get yer facts, Dave -- otherwise, you end up looking as stupid as the security folks who made an ilegal call in the place where laws are made.
