You can wrongly sentence an innocent person to life without parole, then free them when you learn they are innocent. But if you wrongly execute an innocent person, can you bring them back to life? And look at how many people on death row have been exonerated by DNA evidence in recent years; it is undeniable that innocents have been wrongfully sentenced to death and wrongfully executed. It could by me next time, it could be you; why take that chance.
It also bothers me that the death penalty is limited to such crimes as localized, individual murder. What about the crimes of a national or corporate leader, crimes of polluting the air and water and food, crimes of robbing from the working and middle classes, crimes of taking taxes and wages for health care and pensions and then failing to deliver the care or pension, etc, crimes which result in the needlessly early deaths of tens of thousands of citizens? Why shouldn't those crimes, which cost countlessly more years of life and infinitely more financial resources, also be liable for the death penalty?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11497518.post-1136890791145185142006-01-10T02:59:00.000-08:002006-01-10T02:59:00.000-08:00I'm not much for killing people under any circumst...I'm not much for killing people under any circumstance. If you have a death penalty I figure it should be carried out by someone who is a friend or family member of the victim. And if it's proven later you have killed an innocent person you would be liable for similar retribution. So you better be fucking sure.

I find no society which employs the death penalty admirable. Like Lou Reed used to sing, "You are caught in a vicious circle/Surrounded by your so-called friends."Mr. Beer N. Hockeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07184518909716677938noreply@blogger.com
