I Heart Free Dumb

well , todays first random revelation is that most Americans couldn't tell ya the difference between the Bill of Rights, and their cable bill. A recent telemarketing study showed, that of a 1000 people dumb enough to answer a telephone survey, less than one percent of the respondents could identify the first five concepts guaranteed in the Bill of Rights: freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly and to petition the government. Check out the study sponsor at FreedomMuseum.us

Almost 70% of folks remembered the right of Free speech, blah blah blah is still big...but less than 1% knew they had a right to redress grievances...or maybe that's because that right seemed to die at Guantanamo....

Ignorance is not really shocking though is it...no news there, and that's possibly because news is something that 77% of Americans claim to get from TV...

here's a track from a band that used to toil in the late 80's / early 90's Bay Aea club scene that were froted by syndicated newspaper astrologist Rob Brezney aka Pope Artaud.
The band secured a management deal with Bill Graham's firm, and produced a couple albums, including one with cowbell master & Blue Oyster Cult/Clash knob twiddler Sandy Pearlman, but that doesn't mean you ever heard of them. Here's their take on Apathy & Ignorance...

World Entertainment War - Apathy & Ignorance

and here's J Mascis from a Boston gig a few years ago mumbling about Freedom...

J Mascis & The Fog - Freedom

Oh now where were we , oh yes, but despite their dominance of the news sector, broadcast TV networks are feeling the heat... and some of it is definitely coming from the online world. In fact CBS News recently ragged on YouTube for hosting a file of a recent CBS news clip that n a short time was viewed by over 1.5 million downloaders... and now many networks hottest shows have started turning up on the dreaded free filesharing networks...sans the lucrative ads that pay for production...

but F#%k the TV networks...

but I heart Pooter networks... and Free Dumb & ya gotta love em...

On one pooter hand I'm in the middle of trying a new service online that allows me to easily sell secure downloads of my audio creations online... For example, I'm trying to create a way to sell the tracks from my old bands including The Bedlam Rovers, The Rolling Scabs, and current projects etc...

Bedlam Rovers .99 Download Of Wishing Well .MP3

and I'm also getting ready to try out something interesting called Songbird. Built upon the open source firefox/mozilla code base, it's a new browser that purports to incorporate multimedia files...currently just in an early beta stage, it's got only a few functional features ready to test, but is a music player/ Web browser that autodetects and imports most music file formats on users computers and via Web pages and is currently available to download for Windows, with ports to Mac OS X and Linux in progress. I'll let ya know what I think when i get a chance, and hope you'll do the same for moi...

Cuz ya know I'm a bit late, in fact I just heard about this Kennedy Assasination thing from 1963, and now the Vice President's in on another Texas shooting... well maybe it's a different Veep, but whatever... a Veep is still a Veep to me... and cuz I'm late, I'm late to bed, and I just can't stand mornings, and morning radio in particular doesn't make me want to get up. Maybe it's all that guffawing...

in fact if you catch me at all in the morning, it's in the pre-dawn moments usually... likely heading back to my coffin before the sun arises...and there will be no guffawing...

But I'm sure if you listen to that sort of popular early AM drive time American FM Radio style I call "Big Moon Dog Dick's Hi Energy Blast Wake UP Show on The Mighty P-P-P-P-Power 106.3 Morning Show With All Fat Guys Chuckling at Mysoginist Jokes From 6 Till 10 am between Commercials, News and Traffic Every 2.5 Minutes Guaranteed and Playing Only The Big POWER Hits Classic Rock That Rocks Format, Only Here Every Morning With Big Dog Dick & Pals Only On The P-P-P-P-P-Power Station That Gives You Big Dog Dick & More P-P-P-P-P-Power Prizes & Fat Forty Something Guys Chuckling ON P-P-P-P-P-P-Power 106.3",

well then, I suppose you p-p-p-p-probably already had yer fill of this... but in the interest if keeping the blogosphere on level footing with the morning commute crew, here's the inevitable week or so old news cycle fave: courtesy the Aerosmith recycling unit at Rick Davis Music...

Cheney's Got A Gun...,

& golly here's a pretty darn similar one from the Bob Rivers Show with Bob & Spike & Joe up in Seattle on that K-K-K-K-K-Krazy KZOK...

Cheney's Got A Gun

and of course, becasue it's radio, they made a video as well

Well thankfully, speaking of news cycle clutterers, at least the Winter Olympics are over, and if i had heard one more stupid snowboarding story I was gonna puke...

it's from a 2004 recording side project of from dudes behind Velvet Acid Christ, and they call themselves called Toxic Coma, and the track is "Crack Ohlimpics"

( ed note: I knew a couple guys that could've qualified for this next track's main event...)

Toxic Coma - Crack Ohlimpics

says the band who prefer you listen under the influence..."Toxic Coma has always
been about making normal people go crazy, and making insane people laugh and enjoy themselves. This music is for the hard core freak and or psychonaut... We use so many styles and genres in our music that we consider
ourselves the ultimate fusion of all electronic underground hardcore styles. This music is about having fun and freaking out. "

oh wait... I've got one more freaking Darwin award winning snowboarding story, this time from a non-Olympian, some 16 year old who said bye bye to his mommy on the slopes, and then went over a dangerous ridge in Tahoe this week...and dies...

ahh the dngerous livs of the bourgouis.... speaking of bourgeouis,
here's upcoming suburban San Diego based white trash rappette pet Miz Mandy, and a song from her new album Mandatory. Look for her March 5th on TV via the KUSI Morning News and on March 6th, live at the old wood panelled nightspot known as The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach... I doubt Miz Mandy will ever make it into the Smithsonian's Hip Hop collection, but she might as well try eh?

Miz Mandy - Come Here Man

I guess I know why people think it's as nutty as it is out here in the brokeback Bay Area...

heck, instead of solving parking problems, or fixing schools, or resolving healthcare or business tax issues, our local board of supervisors are looking into a new project...

dog sh*t recycling...

in fact, it sorta sounds more feasible than any of their other abandoned projects...

simple capturing of the methane energy from dog crap, and turning it into a usable power source...

why not.. I guess scrap food waste is already being used in some cases, and this town, and almost everyone in it, is full of sh*t...not tooo mention their precocious pets... well since more Americans believe that the right to own a pet is in the constituition, than what's actually in it... here 's a plan for the future...

San Francisco to Test Turning Dog Waste into Power

A lot of folks are apparently scoffing at this idea, yet no one says a thing about
the Bush appointees at the EPA who have removed objections to a DuPont Chemical Weapons plant discharging wastewater into the Delaware River...
EPA Drops Objections to Chemical Weapon Wastewater Plan

besides , we need the chemical weapons to sell to Saddam when he is acquittted right?

yeah yeah... sounds great to me...

anyhow...

and now for some of the many eclectic audio downloads available on the world wide web

let's see...

since the news never seems to be far from the middle east,

Here's a track recorded by a Tel Aviv based metal act called Distorted...

Distorted - Redemption

and we all know the middle east is famous for it's unrepentant hat , so why not something on that familiar subject...

Children of Bodom - Hate Me

Apiary is a similarly fierce Bay Area metal band that have scored some gigs in March on tour in Tempe & Hollywood with Poison The Well, and the Horse The Band... They'll also be on their own in Seattle , Eugene, Salt Lake etc. Here they are from their upcoming release recorded in E-ville out in May on Ironclad Records...

Apiary - Descent

Here's one from Horse The Band, (not to be confused with Horse the drug , that is already quite popular, especially now that Bush is tromping around his new Poppy growing plantation and proudly announcing that theUS has lost control over that naughty Afghan opium trade. In fact a UN funded study was just released by the International Narcotics Control Board that shows record all time harvests of Opium since the US invaded & took over control of the country...Last year's take was slighly down , but was estimated at a healthy 4,600 metric tons, and Afghanistan is now home of 87 percent of the global production of opium poppies. Gee...with all our troops & planes there, I wonder how did that happen?

Not only does Opium sales put food on the table there, Afghan traders believe selling heroin to the United States & Europe is a “Jihad” because they are taking western money at the same time the heroin is killing them...

ah, but I digress as usual , and here's a even more tracks just to give you more frothy evil black tar flava per post than any other loser in the blogoverse...

Horse The Band - Bunnies

Poison The Well - Horns And Tails

Heroin = DEATH

and what better way to celebrate death than with dope & death rock !?! and random mp3 tunes...

Cheap Trick - Waiting For The Man ( live)

The Dynamite - Empire Of Death

Viva Death - Fundamentalist

The Zeros - Death Rock Girl

Eagles of Death Metal - Already Died

and here's Portland's Dandy Warhols, dopey pop rivals of the awful Brian Jonestown Massacre

Dandy Warhols - Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth, Heroin Is So Passe'

Portland OR. based goth rocker Anders Manga is making a dark splash with a new CD out this month on Vampture/Metropolis records called "Left On An All Time Low".

The album features 10 originals and a cover of Mercyful Fate's "Gypsy". Since bursting on the goth /web scene from PDX in 2004, the group has been the most downloaded Goth artist at download.com, and chalked up over 40,000 downloads last year on that popular website. Here's a sample of one of their new tracks

Anders Manga - We Won't Stay Dead

Another press hungry oddball act, that's way scarier than the goth & metal above is this one... I somehow accidentally came across Cookie Cutter Girl, a quasi lesbian comic book superhero creation from one Lynn Julian of Maine.

Check out the whole spiel at http://www.CookieCutterGirl.com...

here's a sample of the music that Julian herself likens as a follow-up to Jill Sobule's "I Kissed A girl" , and favorably compares in "all caps" to KELLY CLARKSON, AVRIL LAVIGNE, LIZ PHAIR, SHANIA TWAIN (as well as Gwen Stefani, Jewel, The Donnas and countless other successful acts with female front performers...not that they have ever heard of her).

Cookie Cutter Girl - Jenny

Cookie Cutter Girl - Get The Picture

Filter-Mag.com has posted some new free & legal tracks this week that are likely worth checking out if yer on the indier than thou tip... here's two of 'em

Nettwerk recording act
Trespassers William - Safe, Sound

and
from Canadian indie label Equator Music

Islands - Rough Gem

anyhow... here' some additional really random selections for today's playlist that I will just post & mainly let the music speak for itself ...

Bay Area disco popsters with links to the late groups Imperial Teen & Aisler Set, playing the Eagle Tavern in SF March 2nd before heading to SXSW and eventually summer festivals in Europa!

Hey Willpower - Chewing Gum duet with Annie

coming at ya straight outta Brooklyn...

Giraffes - Legend of Sissyfist

I also recently just got hipped to UK based Americana stylee roots rock act Salter Creek

Salter Creek - The Other Side

here's a song by a totally different musical assemblage, but recorded in the same Brighton studio as the song above, the joint known as Church Road Studios, in West Sussex in the UK.

Tim Burness - Unstoppable Waves Of Joy

Back on the other side of the Atlantic, Mike Shinoda of the multi-platinum rock act Linkin Park has a side project operating under the name Fort Minor, and here's their latest single

Fort Minor - Remember The Name

and here's a cut from an indie tribute to the tiny Washington DC label Teen Beat records

The Specific Heats - Social Firefly {Originally by Blast Off Country Style}" from

"Relax Brother, Relax: A Twentieth Anniversary Tribute to Teenbeat Records -

since patriarchal St.Patrick's day is on the way, here's those brutish Bostonian hardcore celtic punkers Dropkick Murphy's--

Dropkick Murphy's Spicy McHaggis Jig

and here's Free Dumb lovin' comedian Chris Rock's tribute to People of Ignorance & bearers of Pussy Tatoos

Chris Rock - Real People oF Ignorance ( Pussy Tatoo )

or hows about a little classic bit from a notorious comedy troupe, the American old school alternative to Monty Python known as Firesign Theater

Firesign Theater -Anarchist joke

and I do expect there will be more more coming here in the future... but it's time to go... I gota help a pal with his CD booklet graphic art...so I'm done wi this pooter project, and onto another...
